Sprayed adhesive on the back and stuck it...good enough.

I contacted Kidkawie about a reproduction sticker.  He said he does the design and provides a digital file, but I would need to print it myself.  He suggested printing it on regular printer paper and covering it with packing tape, which did not seem to me like a permanent solution.  I would definitely not expect packing tape to last for the 50 years that the original has lasted.

Does anyone have any guess as to how the original stickers are made?  Does anyone know of an adhesive backed water-proof label that can be run through a laser printer?  Is that a thing?

Could you take the file to an "automotive" graphics company that make decals to produce in vinyl ?
