1983 KZ 440 LTD Belt rear wheel swap
31 May 2022 07:44
Hi All,
I'm looking to swap in a larger rear than the 16" wheel this bike currently runs. Is anyone aware of another KZ that will fit, or is there a swingarm that will fit this frame?
Thanks!

I’m assuming I’d be looking at either a custom swingarm (and a wheel to match) or a custom hub (on the existing swingarm) and laced to a new rim?

Do you want a wider wheel or a larger diameter, or both? If you want to ditch the cast alloy wheels and replace them with wire spoke wheels, you are looking at some fairly extensive fabrication. Do you plan to convert the rear brake to a disc? Plans for the front brake or brakes? Will you convert to chain drive?
Finding hubs that are not too wide and will accept your stock axle diameter will help quite a bit.
How you proceed depends on what your ultimate goals are and how much fabrication you can do or are willing to pay for.
