Does anyone know if you can still get the chrome dress up kit.(looks a chrome gate over the out side fins) on a kz 1000. I havent seen them around. except in my old photo book. I believe JC Whitney handled them, back in the day.

That's another period want item! Like 29 smoothbores, finned covers, gas tank cap gauge.
They are bringing $100-$150 every time they show up on eBay.
No one makes them currently. I had a set from Beck-Arnley catalog in 1980. $14.99 along with an $19.99 Henry Abe bread box air cleaner.

Toast Racks are what we jokingly call them in the uk.
I have seen that there are new repro's available as i have stumbled on them during other searches recently but off the top of my head couldn't tell you where as personally they don't appeal to me so didn't make a mental log but the seller also sold chrome KZ crash bars so shouldn't be too hard to find.
If i see them again though i'll post a link..

Man! Have I been out of the loop!  I guess life gets in the way. It is sure grand to communicate with such peaple. Remdemer when you could go to local bikeshop, pub. or hooligen and discuss such things, with out too much bs?

slmjim tried a set back in the day.  Because the upper mounting tabs are about 2~3mm thick, and locate under the head nuts, the number of threads engaged by the head nut on the stud is reduced by the same amount.   Attempting to torque the first head nut to spec resulted in stripped threads 
.  I never used them because of that.  Sold them at the Mid-Ohio swap meet many years ago.
