81 KZ440 Seats Interchangable?
15 Jul 2021 12:44
Are the seats between the A, B, C and D variations compatible across the board? I have a 81 440 A, but would really love to change to a B or C seat. Looking at photos of the different models, it looks like maybe I can get away with installing a B seat without changing the rear end, whereas I would def need new parts changing to a C seat. Anybody in the know on this subject?

The LTD models have different frames: there is a dip in the cruiser frames (under the seat) that is not present in the kz440B frame.
440B frame:
440A frame (1980 because Partzilla doesn't have a pic for the '81 440A):
Partzilla is a great place to look if you're wondering about parts compatibility.
Also you can keep your existing seat pan, remove the cover, and use a bread knife to trim the seat foam into the shape you want. You may need to have a custom cover made, though, or if you're lucky you can find a generic seat cover that will work.

Dang, thanks. Didn't think to check for frame differences, it all looked cosmetically different to me.
