Kz750L4 - before clear coat. NEED OPINION
12 Sep 2020 09:49
Hi guys. Repainted my L4 tank as it was rough. Originally I was going to do a distressed look. As in sanding down the knee grooves and corner grooves back to polished steel and clear coating satin from there. What do you think? Leave as is and clear? Or distressed?

I would leave it as is and clear coat it. Ed

Seconding - I think it'd be more fun to add wear with experience.

Fake wear doesn't usually look right and only gets criticism, whether on guitars or blue jeans, or vehicles. At a bike night, I would much rather see that paint you did as new, rather than "distressed". The simple blue stripe is nice, and not common, while still looking like it could have come from the factory that way.

definitely clear coat this fad of distressed look is nonsense and unless it actually appeals to you and feels right to you it is not going to make you happy unless you are a painter to trade and like me chop and change colour when you get bored of it then clear coat and give it a good final sand down and a final coat of clear to get rid of the ridges from dual colour paint job looks neat and will appeal to a larger crowd too but like all questions like this it is a matter of taste and personal opinion . do what feels right...

why! Bother, with punctuation it is such? A waste of time and makes no difference at all in the meaning of anything anybody can tell what a sentence means; without , it oh wait it cannot be a sentence without: some punctuation to mark the end and identify. Questions statements and declarations especially in a) multi/line message"
