Custom Milled Emblems
28 Feb 2020 13:20 - 28 Feb 2020 14:44
Thought I would show these off. Got bored in the UK decided to make a few emblems with some stock that was destined for the scrap yard.
Still finishing up the painting process. But will be for my 1981 kz1000. Bike will be a matte blue so I think the red will look nice

Very nice. Next time you post pics would you mind clicking the Insert or Insert All button before clicking Submit so that the pics will show up in the post?

It’s something I would definitely consider, I don’t have access to a mill stateside but I do when I’m in the UK. If there’s a lot of interest in it. I think we could easily make it happen.

Are you planning on using these on the tank or side covers? If its for the tank then I'm curious as to how you will get the curve in it (do all tank emblems have the curve or just most?).

Yeah the long ones will be for the tank, hoping to test fit tomorrow the screws on my tank are stiffer than a .... so trying to get those off without rounding the heads has been difficult. Anyways these are 2mm thick I have been able to give them a nice curve by hand, I plan to exaggerate the curve so the screws hold it all tight against the tank. I laser cut a plastic piece to prevent it from scratching the tank as well as add some more depth to the look.
It’s subtle but there, in the background you can see the piece for the big emblems which will be for the side covers. I do worry about these fitting against the cover I have not tested them yet.

Been working on the other bike, but I test fit the tank emblems today, need to countersink the holes but they fit. (Obviously this tank still needs painted)
