What's the deal with my side cover badges? was created by Robb2018
Someone recently asked me about the extra emblem on my side covers. It got me thinking as I had assumed they were the norm for 76, but as I've been browsing through KZ900 pics I've yet to find another one with these same side cover emblems. Anyone?
Hard to make out in the pic but bottom emblem says "double overhead camshaft".

They have been swopped for earlier aftermarket ones. They never came with that particular font / shape. heres my original 75 badges.

Those are not '75. They are '74 I think. Or maybe '73.
This is '75
I agree that Robb2018's are not original or an exact reproduction. I think the KZ900 only said KZ900 originally. Nice touch to add the Double Overhead Camshaft on the bottom to duplicate the '73 to '75 badges.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

So US bikes came without the bottom "Double Overhead Camshaft" emblem? These are actually two separate emblems, the lower DOC mounting flush with the "KZ900" emblem. I wish I'd known this when I was painting them. I could have bondo'd the holes and left them off.
