1977 KZ400 Deluxe seat question

28 May 2019 18:04
#804741
Just got a 1977 KZ400 A1 last week.
Its got the original brown seat which needs reupholstered.
I want to go with black and I see plenty of seat covers on eBay, but they appear to be flat whereas mine is raised behind the strap.

Does anyone know if one of the eBay covers will fit my seat??

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationIs it possible the seat has become compressed at the front section?

I'm not sure, it seems too perfect to be smashed down. Other 77 deluxes with brown seats appear to be flat though. Maybe I'll just get one and give it a try.

Pretty much all of the standard KZ400 seats I saw on EB appeared to be flat, including a black seat & brown one, both of which appeared identical to yours.

Your seat foam lost the shape over the decades, should have to be same shape as the standard KZ400 seats.

Thanks guys, I guess mine did just compress that way. I'll order a cover. Now I just hope I can put it on without screwing it up!

The cover should come with instructions. I installed a Travelcade seat cover which suggested using 3M Super 77 spray adhesive & the seat cover instructions said to spray only the top of the foam (not the sides). Other spray adhesives can probably work, but whatever is used should be compatible with the seat materials, especially the foam.
