Trying to decide a paint color was created by loneagle
I'm repainting my bike and trying to decide between gloss black or a satin black, similar to hot rod flatz. The paint will be acrylic urethane. Please help me decide!

A lot of chrom and polish parts needs a glossy black.
Satin black looks more like a cheap rattle can paint, IMO

Gloss back over Satin black any day. Not sure, but I think Satin Black would be harder to keep up. Mine is gloss black. After 8 years I feel would like go for change to give it a little more pop. I'm considering adding a bottom white and gold strips like you see on the early Z's. Or even the white and orange at the bottom like the 74 Z1. This would be over the existing black. I love the all black gloss when it is waxed. If not kept up, the bike tends to look ordinary. That is the nature of back. Keeping the cases polished to contrast the black is a must.

IMHO, flat black or satin black is just a passing fad.
So is the blackout trend on a lot of new motorcycles.
Hard as Hell to keep clean too.

To me, flat black or satin black always looks like primer waiting to be painted. Gloss is the way to go. Ed

Thanks for the replies. I'll go with the gloss black. The good thing about gloss, it can be cut and buffed. With the satin black, you cant do this.
