Headlight for Eddie lawson replica fairing was created by Sprengstoff
Hi all,

I have bought a fairing from a GT750 which I'm almost certain that it is identical to the eddie lawson replica. I think it's a 750R1 model. I compared the part numbers etc and everything looks pretty much identical. I will still have to upload a pic, since I haven't done it yet..

Now I have the fairing, but no headlight :) Anyone knows if any other headlight models fit the fairing? Do I need the headlight casing? I see some headlights from gpz's etc, but the casing is different. Part numbers are sometimes the same, even when there is a clear cosmetic difference so I don't completely trust that.

Thanks for the tips.

When you say the part numbers are the same, do you mean the complete part number or just the 5-digit number in the diagram drawing?
Usually with Kawasaki numbers, if there's the slightest difference, Kawasaki will change all or part of the 4-digit suffix of the typical 9-digit part number. You can see what other models use the same headlight bucket as the KZ1000-R1 at Partzilla. A chrome headlight bucket will have a different part number than a black one, in case you're seeing essentially the same thing in chrome and black.

Great thanks for that tip. I'm always checking part number on cmsnl.com and then I have to open new tabs to compare. Partzilla is great! Saves me tons of time. Well on cmsnl I had two same part numbers for the casing, but on the picture they were different. Maybe a mistake I don't know..

The casing is necessary for the mounting I guess? For mounting onto the eddie lawson replica fairing? Thanks for the tip!

Just as an example for what I mean:

Casing part number is the same on partzilla but clearly different on the scheme. Part number 23005. Even mounts are different part numbers

gpz 305
kz1000r

23005 isn't a full part number. From the two links you provided, the 305 & 1000R have different complete part numbers for the headlamp body. Click "more info >" directly below the part name. I guess you mean headlamp body when you say casing. ???
For comparison, the headlight body for my bike is 23005-1016.

Many Kawasaki part numbers are going to be 9-digit, but some are 8-digits w a 3-digit suffix, and others have an addition number/letter suffix which usually indicates a color difference.

Yes I mean headlamp body. In fact I just bought à complète headlamp with body on ebay from a 1984 gpz 750 for 40 dollars.. Not the best condition but complete. Also, thèse items seem to be rare since its the only headlamp I could find on ebay or local sites..

Have you considered using the rectangular headlight or assembly off a 78' and later Yamaha XS1100 ?

Well, I haven't tried looking for it. Thanks to partzilla I found out compatible headlights and bought one. Not great shape but the bike isn't either.. So a piece more or less to fix and paint is ok.

The head light attaches to the bracket via the forks (fork ear bracket what I call them). These are rather hard to find, the GPZ headlight bracket doesn’t work on the Lawson but the B2 does, You can use any headlight from GPZ B models and they are not hard to find, I must have around 13 of those headlights but I am in South Africa (unfortunately). I will take a photo of a custom bracket someone had on a bike I bought but removed it as I found the original part.

Hi Doc, apologies for the late reply. I just received the headlight, but have to check the brackets. Then I'm guessing the original J model brackets won't fit.. When I get to the bike this week I'll go measure. The bike is at my mothers house since I'm in a big renovation project.. Lacking lots of time, and space (for now)!
