Removing heavy tank rust

Just for fun I put 3 gal of evaporust in a 76 900 tank I'll post a pic of befor and after to see how it does tank looks like it had sat with water in it

Electrolysis would be another option. I used that on an XS650 tank that was about as bad and then finished it with Evapo-Rust. Came out like new...

Evaporust is great stuff. Only knock against it is the cost.
I use phosphoric acid. Kleenstrip Etch & Prep as sold by Home Depot for derusting. Works fast and reasonably safe.

Did one rinse out let it soak for 3 days and now I have a rust free tank I washed it out with water blew it with air compressor then put a half quart of transmission fluid in it for rust prevention very pleased the evapo rust was 13 dollars a gal at local rural king I saved what came out of tank for future use

Tank looks good. I've have great success using apple cider vinegar. Works great, inexpensive. Rotate tank every 24 hours until all surfaces have been treated. Drain, rinse, rinse with baking soda and water. Blow dry. You're good.

I like to prep first with a length of dog lead chain or similar, with string attached for easy removal. Removing the sender and fuel level float first them give it a good shake It removes most of the loose rust.
