Has anyone found any aftermarket gas tanks that fit on a 440? The one that comes with the bike looks like they were trying to put in knee dents (with a brick).
My problem seems to be that I can find tanks that I can Frankenstein onto the frame but will not meet up with the seat. So I want to buy a new aftermarket tank and have it painted to match.
I want to keep the seat because the previous owner had some nice custom work done to it.

There is no such animal. You either use what the factory provided. modify a tank from another bike or use one of the custom aluminum units that are fabricated by hand.

Same answer as above.
Is your bike an Ltd or standard model? From the diagrams at Partzilla, if it's an Ltd, then a 440 Ltd tank is probably the only direct bolt-on. The 440B standard tank is different, as are the 305 CSR & 400B. The 79 400H Ltd tank is similar to the 440 Ltd, so one of those might work if you find a good one.
