Got this off eBay cheap. It was pretty nasty when I got it. I'm still going to chrome it. But looks pretty good now .

I definitely would not chrome it! It looks great now, but if you chrome it the chrome will fail before too long and it will look bad. Also, why spend the bucks when the polished case looks better even than new chrome? Ed

If chrome is done right it won't fail. I've chromed a lot of bike covers over the year and never had to do anything but wipe them with a paper towel and Windex. Polished aluminium needs constant attention. Believe me. I normally polish the covers first to give a nice smooth surface for chrome.

For the last 40 years I hand polish with mothers twice a year and just keep it clean. bobos can be fixed smooth, polished dont collect water and dirt that corrodes aluminum I just use panty hose, old sock. or bra pads.As ive always told my girlfriends "Save Virgins start with me"
