Reference Information for Correct Seat Covers

Hello All....I can't believe I'm having this much trouble finding information on what seats are correct for what models. Is there a good source of information out there somewhere?

I'm mostly interested in the correct stitching pattern for my 78 A2, I've seen conflicting information out there but it seems it was a one year only pattern. From what I've read, the Z1's and the '77 A1 were different. My seat had already been recovered when I bought the motorcycle and I'd like to find a stock seat for it in the factory correct pattern. I'm just not sure what to look for!

This is the best I could find , it's from the shop manual.

Thanks...my manual is from 79 and has the MKII on the cover. That one looks close to what they have labeled as the Z1 pattern (1st seat shown below) but doesn't seem to match either of these:

Wow, that's it! I found where those pictures came from....Redline cycle! This explains it all, exactly what I was looking for. Thank You Redline! The bad news is, it's the ugliest one! :lol:

Thanks, looks like a great source. Even that auction is confusing though. They say, "This is an EXACT REPLICA of an original vintage KAWASAKI seat cover made for the following models: KZ1000-A 1977 KZ1000-A2 1978 KZ1000-A2A 1978,
but the '78 came with a different seat cover. :S The bad part about buying a cover is I'll need to buy the seat foam too. The foam and cover cost almost as much as an entire new seat. Well, at least I'm pretty sure I know the correct pattern for the '78.
