Z1 Enterprises mirrors

I need a pair of mirrors for my shaft.
looking at Z1 enterprises im seeing genuine kawasaki mirrors for $53 each or aftermarkets for $7 each.
I know im going to hear. "you get what you pay for" but i gotta ask.
anyone use the less expensive ones?
I just have been dropping a fair amount of cash lately on this project and i need to save a few chips if i can.

The oem ones do not vibrate like the cheaper ones. If your bike does not vibrate id just get the cheap ones.

I bought the less expensive aftermarket ones.
I am VERY DISSAPOINTED! Almost useless. They vibrate so bad, no focus at all, only vague images can be made out.
Thing is its my fault, I shouldda known better, its true in this case :dry:
You do get what you pay for.
I saw somewhere a comparison of differences in less expensive aftermarkets and OEM style.
had something to do with how mirror glass was attached. :whistle:

Shafties typically have much less overall vibrations reverberating up through the handlebars to 'blur' mirror images when riding at various rpm's. Earlier KZ's were known for their vibration and fuzzy mirror images. I can't testify as to personal experiences with the different characteristics of both of the 2 mirrors you're referring to, however being a shaftie, you may be fine with the cheaper ones as alluded to previously. .......................................Mike

Those OEM mirrors are expensive. Most OEM mirrors I've seen, including those that came on my 750E, are quite cheaply constructed. Guess that's my way of saying I doubt you would get your moneys worth by going OEM at that price point. I'd keep looking...

The local Suzuki/Honda shop by me carry's o lot of different style metric mirrors

I have aftermarket mirrors on mine. They were blurry too but so was the genuine units too. I was thinking of drilling a hole in the bottom and filling them with silicon but I took the advice on one of our members and filled the bar with silicon with my calking gun. The left side I just filled it and rode it that way for a while. Definitely less vibration and I could see out of the mirror at speed. It's a hassle so I finally filled the right side but this time I embedded some wheel balance strips in the ends. Even better. I'll dig out some on the left side and put some strips in there too with a little silicon. Not perfect but I can see now.
At $7 a pop, they're worth trying.

When i got the bike the Po had some bar end mirrors on it.. They sucked!!
So I put the OEM,s on it and I was happy..
What I haven't told yall was I hit some loose gravel last week and ate some asphalt.
Just a stupid thing on my part . I saw it and didnt think to much about it .. overly relaxed and I think i was leaning too much. happend so fast i had zero reaction time. I should have known beter.
Any way I took some bangs but im ok as i was only going about 30 mph at the time.
Thats good because i had been riding the snot out of it . lol
Bike is ok just some cosmetic things. which i have been fixing.
New ignition cover and housing.
new rear turn signals from Enterprises.
New(used) brake light.Try to find one one these lol
New handlebars.
Ill have to have the rear fender section painted. (its in the works)
Seat has some scuffs and im still searching for a cover .
One mirror housing is cracked so im either going to replace it or try to glue it.
Im hearing that JBweld plastic glue works wonders.
The good is the bike is running amazing now.
All the time i spent on maintenance. IE: carburetors valve adjustment ,electrical,ect really paid off.

Glad you're OK. Yeah, loose gravel or dirt in a turn can really make for a F'ked up day. The front end on my bike would want to wash out in soft sand on dirt roads. I have a 110/90-19 on there now and it's more forgiving. It can still happen, just not as easy with the smaller tire.

They all vibrate...the different a is that the oem mirror do not come loose while the cheap ones do. And you can't fix them once they come loose

Not to worry pal. Very few riders if any that have ridden for any length of time that hasn't had a battle scar for one reason or another somewhere along the line. Hang in there.........................................Mike
