I am having my upper fairing repainted this week, as well as the spare, and would like to know if there is an official color or color code for this particular shade. I am aware there were not color codes for Kawasakis in the 70's but was this the case for '82? All of my searches bring up "firecracker red" but nothing more to really go on than that.

I have the same need, repaint upper fairing so if anyone knows that will help, I found a indoor outdoor plastic enamel Krylon can and did a temp rattle can job with "fire truck red" that matches up pretty good but it's just temporary until I fix my tank dents ect and have the whole thing done right.

...I had my '82 GPz750 painted a month or so ago. If you like the match, I'll find out from my guy exactly what he used. I'll be out of town starting tomorrow until Tuesday of next week. If you can wait that long, I'll let you know what he used when I get back.

If you have a body part with the same color in good shape the paint can be matched at some auto paint stores. Call around...

And this is the plan at the moment. I am trying to make it a little easier on my paint guy. Nothing more.

If no one else jumps in...it is a ford color (I'll have to look at home)...you should use the search option on this site as this same question has been asked and answered a number of times on KZR.

...That's what we did, matched the color to a NOS-OEM front fender.

...Below is the result, with that front fender.

Ford Cardinal Red , you can go brighter if you want but that sort of darker VW mars red blood red with some orange in it. There is a newer kawasaki red I have that is brighter

I did that and addressed it in my original post.

And that's what I've done at this point. I wanted to save some time by possibly finding a code or a real name that would be accessible to my body guy. I'll call him with the Ford Cardinal Red and see if that helps.

I'm debating going for a brighter newer kawasaki red on my 750r1, I suspect exact colour matching paint batches in those days wasn't quite as precise as it is now.

www.colorrite.com/product/kawasaki-passion-red-1567.cfm

There are problems matching even something NOS that has been in a box for 30 years, also our colour perception changes with aging. If they looked a bit 'redder' 34 years ago that might be we were younger then. (old ladies like blue rinse hair dye -it looks blond to their eyes)

Not sure about a 82 750 but a 84 Gpz900 red is a Candy color red sprayed over a white base....that is why it is a bright color.

A solid car color red will not be a right on match to a candy color. You can tell if a 82 750 is a candy color if you examine your parts ...... like seat wear on the tank might show you the layers of paint and if it used a white base.
