KZ650 Full Fairing?

Where could I get a full race fairing for a 78 KZ650? I want one similar to this.

The one in the photo is a Rickman fairing. You might want to check with these folks. Ed

I was lucky to spot that Rickman fairing on Craigslist some years back.
This one is made for a larger bike,
It was on the previous owner's GS1000.
I had to shorten the mounting brackets a little on the steering neck, and the rear mounts.

I never cared much for that style. The teeth makes it all better. :woohoo:

How do you like the fairing? Any increase in top speed? Have you done any long distance trips with it?

That rounded bubbly look quite suits the 650, imagine having that in the late 70's before full fairings became the norm on sports bikes...almost alien technology then.

The fairing keeps the wind off me very well.
I'm usually sitting upright looking over the top.
If I tuck down behind the fairing, I can get close to an extra 10 kph at the same rpm.
I haven't had her to top speed, full out in 5th.
50 kph over the limit here (100 kph on the highway) is an instant licence suspension if your caught, so I tend to be careful.
At 6000 rpm, the bike cruises at 120 kph, 7000 rpm 140 kph.
If we were to continue that trend, I'd estimate at 8000 rpm = 160 kph (have seen this a few times) and at 9000 rpm getting close to 180 kph.

I did install a steering dampner too.
Just because I had it already, not because my bike was having any issues, wobbling etc.
Having the dampner helps stabilize the bike even more at high speeds.
Grooves, road snakes, or an imperfection in the road does not tend to grab the tire as much as it used to.


Only long distant trips would be an all day ride of 500+ kilometers.
Have done a few days this season, all day rides.

I don't understand. 100 kph/65 mph is your top speed limit? Anything over 80 mph is a possible jail sentence here.
