Need some one experienced in custom work
17 May 2015 22:33
I've got the chance to get a zx10 with some weird things wrong with it but it's an 88. Anyways I'm looking at the possibility of custom making my ownen tail in to put on newer plastincs (mid 90's hopefully.) I just hate the boxy tail of these bikes. Anyway I'm willing to spend the time I'm just wondering if it's even possible? Has anyone else tried something remotely similar? ANY helpful advice would be great. ive got my own welder and a lot of machinist tools so that should help a ton. Thanks guys

Get hold of the backend ( subframe and plastics) from a bike that you do like and take it from there.
Is the frame on this bike steel or aluminium? Be sure the bike is in good sound condition before you start messing around with it.
Or you could save time by just digging a big hole and throwing your money into it now,!
Good luck
P.S.
In 2005,The U.B.G. says of the ZX10,
'170mph top speed, in a poor handling package. Some top end problems at 35k some made it past 50k when the bores were shot.Cheap way to extreme performance or soft touring. Ride at a fraction of its potential or you may be very sorry indeed'
Their words,not mine.

thanks a lot for that. ill continue on with caution. im going to make sure it runs before i start dumping loads of money into it. also i believe the frame is steal but don't quote me on that. this bike s getting out of my comfort zone with how big it is but i think i can tackle it. you sound like you know what your talking about so ill ask you if i need any more advice
