Eddie Lawson/ELR fuel yank
07 May 2015 11:53 - 07 May 2015 12:13
I have a gas tank for an Eddie Lawson Replica that I want to sell on Ebay. It is primered white. What do you think is the ball park price I should sell for?
I have just added that it has the gas cap and key. no rust

At least £100 plus carriage all day for a solid tank minus cap, sender and tap, possibly a lot more to the right person. Rust inside the tank, dents and clumps of filler are often buried in what looks nice in the pics.
Getting it to flatted white primer is more work then basecoats, graphics and clearcoat, unfortunately it is often difficult to know how well it has been done.
The ELR and J3 tanks have the petcock in a different position to the more common GPz B series tanks.
The tank in my avatar was from a smashed up bike, the extra work getting it straight would be cheaper paying top dollar for something really good to start with.

Primered and with photos demonstrating that it is a ELR tank (i.e. photos of the underside), at least US$200 and possibly higher in a public venue like eBay. Let us know when you throw it open for bids.

I will let you guys know when I list the tank. I do have pics. The underside still had the green ELR overspray.

I think what you need to show are the number and placement of the inlets/openings on the bottom of the tank...this will determine the model (and aid in selling) of the tank.

Gas cap appears to be chrome, ELR caps were black chrome.
Even if it's not an actual ELR tank it's still worth $200 or so.

More pics. I think the chrome gas cap was added later.

Yep, an ELR/SBR fuel tank...fairly uncommon...don't sell short on eBay if don't get any immediate bites.

I've bought and sold quite a lot of bike parts on ebay, get the listing title right, including
GPz11 etc...lots of these running on carbs now. Also z1000J kz1000j z1100R z 1100R kz1100R etc... think every permutation of searches that might fit the title.
Also plenty of good pics showing also the inside of the tank, tank badge area (common water trap rust spot) . You can remove the tank sender unit and sell it seperately, with the cap and tap and take pics on the inside. With old bike parts the value is all in the condition.
If it really is four aces then ask for top money buy it now, an imperfect NOS ELR seat sold for over £600 on ebay UK a while ago.
