need gas cap help was created by kzjockey
Alright I've looked and looked, here and elsewhere online. Call me stupid but i cant seem to find much info anywhere. I have a 2002 kz1000P that I'm trying to find a chrome gas cap for. I have the rectangular style that is pretty beat, ive repainted the bike and would rather just move away from the stock style. I've found them for other years, and ive heard that the kzp's have something like 95% parts compatibility, i just dont want to waste money on an assumption, any help would be greatly appreciated

Tried to respond but everything got F'd up. I have my old one here. I bought another one on eBay, I should have bought a new one from z1partsinc. Not much more and better.

Don't buy NOS rubber, buy new. Give me the dimensions and I can compare fitment.

Googling the part number 51049-1136 (stock style) produces several listings by various suppliers, including:

bit of trivia on fuel cap locks and keys , the fuel cap lock barrels have no tumblers so any key fits them. Certainly for my period of early 80's kawasakis anyway.

Also it is easy to get a keys made for any other lock from the 4 digit code Z**** , in small numbers stamped into the seatlock body. Theoretically 10,000 combinations but in reality a lot less... cuts like Z0000 and Z9999 wouldn't be used for obvious reasons.

I was told by a locksmith that the kz1000P had their own Z key code different from other models, although a recent key cut for a 1000P proved him to be wrong, and he did another key from the non 1000P Z key code which was correct.

There's no pic. Purchase this Whatever it is. Another GANK. I hate this crap. BUY IT NOW, YOU LEFT THESE ITEMS IN YOUR CART, BUY IT NOW BEFORE IT GETS AWAY etc, etc, etc.
Don't buy sight unseen. You have the money and they want it. The least they can do is provide a pic.

You can buy one at Diablo Cycle for $32.00 US, www.diablocycle.com/Body-c-72/?page=5.ht...om/Body-c-72/?page=4

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.
