Olive drab paint?

I'm new here and damn excited about my kz650 I just bought. It's a 77 and has 9000 miles. It runs wonderfully. But the original blue paint is in rough condition. I'm kind of into the military look. Anybody ever painted theirs anything close to olive drab? Is this sacrilegious?

It's your bike to [strike]mutilate [/strike]customize as you wish, but yes it is sacrilegious. Every olive drab bike I've ever seen looks alike and looks like crap. If you have an original blue 1977 KZ650 clean up the paint and it will look great. If you want a crappy olive drab look why not just buy another set of bodywork and paint it, then you can go back to the original set when you get tired of it (which you will ;) ) Ed

Oh, by the way, I'm not the least bit biased.

Look for plastidip coating. It is removable, and available in many camo colors. If you don't like the color, just rip it off.

You original color will still be there.

Even nice looking paintwork usually needs quite a lot of prep which is very time consuming and is most of the cost of a pro respray. If you go for a matt or satin finish you can gt away with much less prep.

Blue urban cammo in matt would be cool, you can paint it yourself or even get it vinyl wrapped. Get some kawasaki tank and z650 panel graphics made up too if you want to debadge it.
