Doremi fenders was created by 68dave
I just today purchased a new reproduction chrome Doremi front fender for my 76 900 off of ebay. I searched here for some feedback about the quality of their chrome with no luck. Before i order the rear fender, has anybody had any issues with their chrome plating? Or any fitment issues? I'm concerned about repop parts because i know with my chevelle the aftermarket parts can be a real pain in the a**. T.i.a. for your replies.

Plummen is correct, but generally most repro parts sold by Doremi are quality. Doremi has an excellent reputation.

I ordered the front fender. I was considering re-chroming but nobody local does it anymore.

Ive tried all three. The Doremi has some issues with spot weld holes that show through the chrome on top. They are cheaper then the originals, which are still available. I don't go to chromers anymore, too much of there stuff peals off or is just plain not done right.

The plating shop I use is close to 100 miles one way for me to drive to,but the results have been worth it.
We used to have 2 decent plating shops in Omaha,1 burned down and the other one went out of business.
The other plating shop that's still around screwed up some parts for 1 of my 55 chevys about 10 years ago, after offering to drive a komatsu pc 400 through their building Ive never been back.
What really sucks is the guys who ran the really good shop and the guys with the hack shop are cousins, and the butchers are still in business!

We'd looked at the repro fenders, but came to the conclusion the steel was too thin and the front was a little too flexible for my liking.

Given the genuine fenders are still available, we opted to just sell the genuine ones.

I was gonna buy a nos fender but i was told that the chroming process back in the 70's was not show quality like how the chroming is done today. I was told that today's chrome holds up alot better compared to the chrome that originally came on these bikes. I have a good straight rust free oem fender on my bike now but the chrome is fading & dull but if i don't like the quality of the new aftermarket fender i may try to locate a reputable chrome shop to replate it.

Just the opposite 68dave, back in the 70s-80s there were no restrictions from the EPA, like there is nowadays, Browns Plating was one of the best back then, now that they have their fingers tied their quality is way down, ask any Plating shop that's been in business since the 70s & they'll tell you how they cant do the same quality work like back then

You cant really compare the cheap factory plating back in the 70s to the stuff the good plating shops were turning out back in the 70s-80s.
99% of a plating job comes down to the prep/polishing before the plating. ;)
The only advantage that browns has ever really had over other platers all these years is their ability to get chrome to stick to aluminum, which is a whole lot harder to do than most people think. ;)

My Doremi fender came and it appears to be good quality. When comparing the weight of the new repop to the old oem it seemed about the same. Mounted up with no issues. The chrome is nice but i guess only time will tell.
