Gas tank swap

Hey guys! I'm new to the biking world and i just bought a 1980 kawasaki kz550! I'm a fan of the tear drop tank that was released on the following models of the bike but i was curious if that tank would still fit on my 1980? If not, what other tanks do i have as an option that i could swap for? thanks for any input and have a great day

I can't say as to wether or not those tanks will fit your frame because I don't know for sure if its a direct swap but I can say that if you have a mig welder and grinder then you can put almost any tank on your frame.
Just measure center of the tanks tunnel and transfer to the frame and measure from that to the tank mounts.
Most of these tanks use 3/8" posts so once you have the placement of the new posts you can use the stock mount bushings.
You may have to remove the stock posts but most of the time you can leave them.
You may also have to devise a new rear strap but all in all it's a fairly easy mod if you have the tools and time.

What model is it? A 550A Standard? The 550C Ltd models had the tear-drop tank.
