Fairings and windshield
20 Oct 2013 13:31
Hello everyone.
I have a 77 1000 A It's my daily rider, the weather is getting cooler and I am considering some wind protection, wondering if anyone has tried fitting fairings and windscreen from a newer model or different maker to this model bike. Not really interested in the old style windjammer faring. Looking for something a little more aerodynamic that I might be able to fit up with minimal effort and be able to remove when the warmer weather returns.
Suggestions, comments.
Thanks in advance

This is my second Shoei FM-2 NOS $115.00 eBay delivered. I have owned. Works well especially at highway speeds. Will not protect your face completely from the wind, you will need a full face helmet for that. It does however help protect your chest and you can always tuck behind if you find to get your head out of the wind.
This gives you an idea on height.

National cycle windshield.... after you have the mounts on the bike it pops on and off in less than 15 seconds with no Tools. and I'm pretty sure they have biger ones that cover the hands and part of the hip

Thanks for the suggestions.
I use a full face helmet, carhart bibs, tour master jacket, gauntlet gloves and had a national cycle windshield at one time but the windshield didn't do enough for the hands. I live in Michigan and have no problem riding late in the season but the ride to work is 35 miles at 3am on the freeway, not bad around 40 deg but at temps below that it gets sketchy. I was thinking more along the lines of plastics from a Connie or something similar.
Thanks

I suggest a Connie! I have seen nice early models fro under a 1000. Fantastic weather protection makes it a great cold weather bike.
