Is there something in our vin numbers that determines the original color of a bike ?

No. It all has to do with where the models were sold and what was an option. For example, the 1978 KZ1000A2 model was available in red and green in Europe and red, green, and black in North America. It becomes even more complicated when attempting to figure out models, years, and color schemes on the KZ1000B series. Kawasaki made mid-production run changes in paint schemes. For example, you might have an early run 1979 KZ1000B3 with a 1978 paint scheme, etc.
