Side covers for a KZ 440

I have a 1980 KZ 440 B (I think). It's got eh flat seat, and drum brakes. And it's missing the side covers.

Apparently the 440 LTD and the 400 LTD have those stepped seats, and the LTD side covers have a "tongue" on the leading edge.

I'm not restoring this puppy, I just want the side covers for protection from the elements.

1. Will "standard" KZ 400 side covers fit a Kz440 B?

2. Has anyone tried putting 440 LTD covers on a "not LTD" 440?

3. Besides cosmetics, do side covers serve a purpose? Hey, if I don't have to obsess over something, I won't!

Thanks for the help and counsel!

I have one spare side cover for the LTD model. It is for the right side. If you find that they work for you and you can only get a left one, I would be happy to help you out for just the cost of shipping. I know it is a long shot--but you never know. Also you can find sets pretty cheap on Ebay pretty often. Hope it helps.

Thanks! But I think the tab on the LTD covers means it won't fit the standard 440. I've been looking on ebay a lot (and elsewhere) and there is a real difference between the 440 and the 440 LTD.

But thanks for the offer.
