KZ650 side covers was created by scott s
A buddy of mine just picked up a '78 (I think...I'll confirm the year ASAP) KZ650 and it's missing the LH side cover.
The 550 covers LOOK awful similar, but will they fit?
Motogrid shows a different part #, but that's often because of the paint color, emblem, etc.

Right, that's essentially what MotoGrid is. I can cross reference the part #'s, but like I said, it's often just a paint code or different badge or what-not. I've found that out while searching for parts for my Hondas.
Often, the part is the same and can be used on many models, but the fiche doesn't cross reference them because, say, a '76 paint color was not used on a '77.
So.....back to the original question: Will the 550 covers fit the 650?
I see that the CSR covers are obviously different, but the 550 and 650 covers look the same. At least, in pics online they do.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNot sure what you're looking at, but they don't look alike to me. If you look at 550 and 650 covers on eBay, I think you'll see the difference. Plus, with all the 650 covers out there, why would you even consider a 550 cover? Just stay away from SR and LTD covers. While they may look the same as regular model KZ's, they are not. The SR and LTD covers are longer from top to bottom. The bottom peg will not line up with the mount hole. Something else to watch out for. I believe the 77 and 78 have the indent for the emblem with the small KZ. While the 79 and later have the flush mounted emblem and the large KZ.
Here's a couple for you to look at. Prices aren't too bad either.

Yeah, I doubt the 550 side cover will fit a 650.
650 B, C and F model side covers can swap, although the badges are different.
D and E can swap, H model may be different again.
