Can i fit a stock seat on here? was created by tomekzski
Hey, so i got this bike with the cut frame in the back. wondering if i can still fit a stock seat on there. also is there missing brackets for the seat? this is exactly how I got it. What do I need to do to put a seat on there.

It's a shame that some "customizer" cut off the frame. If you can find someone with a stock bike to use as a guide you may be able to fabricate the piece that's cut off and have it welded back on. Maybe ask the guy you bought it from if he has the chunk that was cut off (slim chance, but worth asking)? Ed

Already asked that guy, doesnt have it. It doesnt look like my bike has the piece where you mount the seat to so that it opens up right? i remember both my hondas were like that..looks like I am just gonna have to think of some type of braket myself. But to the naked eye does it look like a used seat off another 750 ltd would fit in length to where it wont hit the taillight? that would be awesome.

Thanks! :P

The KZ650 frame has a little different shape. According to Kawasaki.com the 1980 KZ750 LTD frame was unique to that model. Judging by the pic from the parts diagram, the stock frame looks just a little longer than the one that was cut, so restoring that frame length might not be too difficult if needed. Here's the pic:

The 1980 & earlier 650 frames are different from the 750-4s & 650-CSRs. The 750-Ltd-4 chain drive has basically the same frame as the 81-83 650-CSR, in some cases identical. Many parts are interchangeable.

To the op: the stock seat is ~13" from the shock nut to the rear of the seat. And ~29" from the front top corner of the side cover to the rear of the seat. The stock frame should have 2 seat brackets welded to the frame - a couple of hinge pins are used to hold the seat in place. One of the brackets is just forward of the battery & the other is just rearward of the frame crossbar that is rearward of the tool tray. The seat has a couple of bolted-on hinges & there are several frame dampers for support - one of which rests on the rear of the frame... missing on your bike.
