This issue has come up before in another thread. The original part is superseded which is later also superseded, then later again superseded, and so on. If the part has a 30 year lifespan (and these pan-head 5X12 screws do), then what is being sold currently no longer resembles what was sold initially.

I just noticed that Redline Cycle is selling windshield mounting screws that are black. I don't know how closely they match the OE screws, but they are at least the correct color.

Not 100% sure but the 1980 Z1r had silver windshield screws, or perhaps the factory went back and forth on this.
For example, here's a stock color (black in that year) 1980 Z1r -- silver windshield screws, part #92009-1026, SCREW, PAN HEAD,5X12, 220C0512 and 220C0512A:
Here's a 1978 stock color Z1r -- with black windshield screws (Kawasaki part #92009-1026, 2 variations: 220C0512 and 220C0512A, "SCREW-PAN-CROS,5X12") :
According to the parts list for the 1978 and 1980 Z1R, the front windshield screws use the same part number. So perhaps Kawasaki used both colors.
Here's another stock-color (black) 1980 Z1R - with silver windshield screws:
And here's another 1978 Z1R -- stock silver paint on the bike, with black windshield screws:
Nevertheless, the parts diagrams for the 1978 and 1980 Z1R at the Kawasaki.com web site show only 1 part number for both the 1978 and 1980 windshield screws -- part #92009-1026.
Not sure why.

This is the last '78 I had here in my shop. My '80 model has the same looking screws.
