I'm Confused on gas tanks help with ID

ok I have at least 5 70's style gas tanks couple 5 gallon couple LTD

I have sold a painted 5 Gallon set listing it as fitting 73-80 KZ1000 guy loved it
fit perfect


I Buy a Green tanki off ebay too cheap listed for a 78 KZ900
Looks identical to every tank now I get it and it the mounting cups are in the wrong place and it has an additional round thing in it the petcock is also in a different spot ]

I have had 750 yanks they mount different but I dont think this is a 750 tank

some one help ID this please

There was no 1978 KZ900...could you post a picture of the top/side of the tank?

Thats what I thought figured the guy was wrong I get that allot people asking if mine is a 900

I'll bet that the green tank is a 750 Twin tank...

kind of what I was dreading the last 750 tank I bid on unknown kz tank they called it was worth it


just makin sure its not a Z1 or weird year Z1 tank

the last 750 tank mounted differently ay the back (actually now I think about it I lost money on it also)

Underneath, Z1 tanks have the ridge toward the center of the tank, not along the perimeter. And (IIRC) the Z1 you can see the rear strap hook from the top.

Hey Ram, check with the 650cc guys. I never followed the 650 but I had some red parts once and they had those style pinstipes on the pieces.

It's not a KZ650 tank. The way it mounts in the cups up front is like the 650, but the rear is wrong and the KZ650 petcock was not a pipe thread mount. I'm going with a KZ750 twin also.

pretty sure its not a 650 i am tHINKIN 750 TWIN I Know it is not what was advertised
but i really hate returning shit through ebay and the whole feedback business
he says he sent me some extras pics not sure if he did or not but even if he had its close enought unless its sitting next to a kz800 or 1000 for an ebay picture to mislead you especially hen it is advertised for a 900 i dunno what to do with it now it needs some body work and I got enough practice paint stuff to last a lifetime so unledss anyone can confirm its a 900 or 1000 tank i may have to see about returning it

750 twin, just had a 76 i sold off a few weeks ago same tank. 650 tanks are far different

yeah thats a 1000 tank it is gonna take the place of the one that doesnt fit instead of staying in my collection
