Out of curiousity...do you put a clear over the pin-striping? My ex-brother-in-law had that done and after awhile, every time he washed the bike, some of it came off. Was that just a bad job he had or does that need to be protected somehow?

the ideal situation would be have it cleared over... but he said it would be fine as is.. after it's cured a few day's,just keep it waxed really good...

It looks great.
Most hand stripes are done with One-Shot enamel and will wrinkle up when cleared. If your going to clear over your striping you need a striping paint designed to be cleared like House of Kolor striping paint.

mark, what you say sounds right on... he did tell me it was oil based enamel... which should be durable... ain't like it's going to be power washed!! stripes should hold up fine...

You can clear over 1shot if hardener was added, but you still have to be careful. The first 2-3 coats of clear have to be misted on and allowed to tack befor you hit it with a heavy coat. Traditionally 1shot does not get cleared, if the surface was cleaned thoughly prior to striping you shouldn't get any lifting or chipping. Don't take a pressure washer to it when cleaning, that will take it off eventually.
