Paint and polish done!

Hey guys. It's been a while since I last posted my progress on my CSR rebuild.

Last week I stripped the old paint, prepped, primed, sanded, painted, sanded, clear coated, and sanded everything but ran out of time to polish the sanded clear. I finished it today with a 3 step Adam's Polishing Kit.

The wet sanding took the most time, and I would not want to have to do it again any time soon. But I am happy with the results and saved almost $700 from cheapest paint shop estimate I could find by doing it all at home in the garage.

Next I will put on new gas cap, hook the tank all up, finish the rearset mounts, put on my headlight and finally start her up.

I was using my cell camera, so I apologize for any blurry pics. I will get some pics in the sun soon, but it was raining when I finished today, so I had to keep her in the garage.

3 coats of primer and wet sanded:

4 coats of jet black (Duplicolor Auto Shop), wet sanding after the 3rd coat:

And after 3 coats of clear (Spraymax 2K Clear), wet sand, and Adam's Polishing Kit:

Nice work Gwolever! You will have much more satisfaction knowing you did it all yourself once you are done. I didn't do my own body work due to lack of time. But I did the cups, headlight shell and triple tree. And I think the paint is more durable than the paint on my body parts. There is no better quality control than doing it yourself. If you have the patience.

Thanks guys. I have been tossing around the idea of putting something on the tank, but not sure yet. I filled the holes in on the sides of the tank and on the side covers too. I had no need for the key hole for my seat anymore as I have a different setup now, so I just went ahead and filled in the badge holes too since I wasn't planning on putting the old CSR 1000 badges back on them.

That looks real glossy. Did you use clear coat, or is it only the paint? If no clear what was the paint you used?
When do you get to ride it? Must be getting close, huh? Summers winding down quick.
