Luggage rack rubber strips was created by N0NB
I bought one of those classic luggage racks for the KZ650B3. It's a period unit made by KG Engineering and in very good condition. It is lacking the rubber strips in the channels of the rack rails although two were supplied that evidently came out of it. The strips measure 1/4" thick, 3/4" wide, and 12" long. I found one site (rubbersheetroll.com) that has the width and depth I need in a 10 foot roll, $30 for plain and $53 with an adhesive back. Now, I only need 4 feet of the stuff to redo the rack and don't know what I'd do with the other six feet.

Has anyone looked for or found a source for material like this?

I've used the "Non-Skid" sold for slip protection on stair treads, it's got adhesive on the back side, so clean off the area good before applying it down. Usually rubbing Alcohol,MEK, or Acetone will prepare the surfaces. If the strip is too wide, a sharp knife of razor blade can be used to trim the strip after it's stuck down.

Did you layer it? On my rack the strips are almost a quarter of an inch deep and the strips just peak above the edge to provide some grip.

No, I've got an old "Rack Factory" rack on my bike with a flat Aluminum surface. The anti-skid worked out great for my needs.

For your use, maybe some Aluminum cut to fit the space will act like shims so you could use the non-skid.

I think I have the same rack that came with my bike with a couple strips missing. Please let me know what happens. I'll take some to repair mine with a cost of course.

Thanx Mark

Go get a nice rubber welcome mat and cut it up.

Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound,
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure,
When yours, it could have been.
