ELR stripes was created by ThatGPzGuy
Hey gang, I am picking up the painted bits today so I can apply the ELR stickers. What do I need to know besides what is printed in the instructions?
Also, from the pics I have it looks like the white kerker graphic goes over the dark stripe? Would that need to be cleared over first?
TIA, I'll post some pics in a separate thread.

Just keep everything really wet with soapy water and you will be fine.

camaro guy, I am definitely going to clear over them. The pieces already have several coats of clear when I give them back to the painter he will add several more. The question I have is the white KERKER graphics look like they go on top of the broad blue stripe on the tank. Can I apply this graphic directly on top of the vinyl or should it be cleared over first?

Here is the response I got from Reproduction Decals:
Jim:
Hi. The decal can be applied directly on the stripes and then cleared over.
Thanks
Ellen

I did the fairing and the rear cowl last night. It's tougher than it looks and I had a hard time getting all the bubbles out. Tonight I'll tackle the tank.

Well that could have gone better. I ended up peeling them off they looked so bad. I must not have the gene that lets you apply vinyl stcikers over curved suraces. It was working well, I had it plenty wet but I could not get the stickers to conform to the tank without wrinkling around the curves. What's the secret? I don't want to mess up another set of stickers those things are pricey!

Try using a hair dryer or something similar to get the wrinkles out.

do you have a vinyl squeegy? kind of looks like a bondo spreader?
dont overdo the soap and water

trick: use masking tape tape your stipes where they go (tape the edges of the application tape the stuff that covers the stripe is the application tape)

peel the backing off lightly spray the tank and stripe use squeegy to sqeeeze the water/soap out from one end to to other or middle outward let dry before proceeding

if no application tape is on the stripe you can do tape directly to the stripe

seems you either get crazy sticking power or almost no sticking with fresh paint make sure your part is really clean before you star

no sticker residue or it will show up under your stripe and look bad

air bubbles will occur take the tip of an exacto poke it push air out

The sun is your friend after it has dried the heat will shrink the viyl to remove air pockets
pm me if you need anything else

one layer of vinyl have cleared color sand ridge out add top sticker reclear colorsand and buff

I used a credit card.

I used a strip of painter's tape to determine the top edge.

Do you take all the backing off at one time? I was just peeling enough to work with the exposed part. Just a few inches at a time going from left to right and smoothing as I go. The sticker would stick like crazy and have to be pulled off if I messed up or could not get the wrinkles out. Once it touched the tank it was there to stay. Maybe I don't have enough soap in the water? The instructions said to use just one drop.

This is really frustrating. I wish Repro would post a few videos showing the best way to do this.
