Is this an original 79 SR 650 color? was created by hypnotikrobot
Bought a bike and it is waaaay too clean. Can't find any flaws in the paint. only has 15,000 miles but there's not even a chip in the fender I'm wondering if this is can be the original paint. I know the fairing is aftermarket and it's a direct match. It seems like the bike was painted and then parked for years.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

No, not original. Kawasaki never ever painted a KZ650 without the stripes ect.

I can not say that your machine is the correct shade of red, but as I understand it the 1979 kz650 SR - also known as the D2 - was offered in Midnight Blue and or Candy Persimmon Red. AS Ron indicated it would of had some stripes on the tank, and side covers - see this link of a photo of one
