I love what you did with the engine, looks great. I have to paint mine also. What paint did you use for the frame and the engine?

Thanks retcol,
I will have to check what brand engine paint it was, I still have a couple of cans in the garage. I just remember it was black and aluminum ceramic high temp engine spray paints.
As for the frame, I didn't have the money to powder coat, so I used the POR-15 Rust Preventive paint followed by POR-15 Chassis Black.
I will get back to you on that engine paint brand.

Awesome job!
Wish I had the know-how to strip mine down and start from scratch like that for a winter project. Someday maybe...

Looks good! In fact, nice enough that since I am pretty close to that point myself (stripping and repainting my frame while I have everything apart, I wonder if you might have some advice at that point.
I looked into the POR 15 site, and see that the Rust Preventing base coat is only available in a pint size container and not in a rattle can... SO, did you do you base coat with a paint gun? I have a top fairly basic top feeding paint gun, and access to a compressor and a place to paint. I imagine that thy stuff comes with pretty decent instructions, but before I order something in, I would just want to ready for the work. How did you go about prepping and painting the frame?
My original though was to sandblast after cleaning off the worst of the gunk that has built up over 30+ years and then rattle can it after. I would like to get a decent, lasting finish after that, and this seems to be a good way of doing it. If i am going to go to that length, is there anything else I need to consider along the way?
Thanks very much for any advice you may have!
Cheers,
Jon
