I want a new seat.
17 May 2012 14:08
No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationBeen surfing ebay for a week maybe two now, and nothing has come up.
WHAT is involved with this? pull it tight, staple/glue it to seat pan and put back on bike?
thanks!

I took my seat to a local auto / marine upolstery shop, with the design that I wanted, drawn out on a piece of paper, I picked out the material that I wanted, a marine grade material that looks like leather, heavy duty stitching, & all of the emboidery, ....& it cost me 140.00...and I did"nt have to do anything....It was worth it for me...heres some pics.

I got a quote from a local shop on a custom seat with custom cut foam and new cover that was $125.
In the end I decided to keep the stock seat and bought a $30 cover on ebay and did it myself. My foam was in good shape so it was pretty easy.
How your cover attaches may vary a little depending on the bike. My seat pan is all metal (I'm guessing most old KZ's are) and there were these little metal clips on the pan that sort of held the cover in place. Mostly I found the cover was held in place with some U shaped plastic trim. I bought some chrome trim from my local auto store for about $12 and it worked great.
The seat cover looks good, though I have a wrinkle here and there. For the money $125-$150 ain't bad for custom work. I'm just a cheapskate. I mean, I like the satisfaction I get from doing it myself. Yeah that's what it is.
