Great work Old School. That is a thorough job. Very nice!

bluej58: Thanks. I put pinesol in an old cooler I had sitting around the garage and just drowned the whole rack. I did not separate each carb. The cooler I used was the perfect length for them.

I have kept the pinesol in the cooler to use as a chemical dip for any other parts I need cleaned during the rebuild.

Here is where I heard about the pinesol:

I finished rebuilding mine today. I had everything but the tops and bowls in Pinesol for 2 days. 4 carb kits later and done.

Those look fantastic. Really good looking.

And I have a bronze brush- not brass (yeah, finding a real bronze brush was a challenge) its like...magic. it shines everything I've used it on, its down to a nub.

And I second the pinesol dip method. I found out about on a honda forum, I have a 6 gallon bucket with screw on lid- it wont ruin anything but crud. AND, and you can pour it down the drain safely NOT like anything else like carb cleaner. Be responsible, my neighbor emptied his parts solvent bin onto his gravel driveway..wtf
Its amazing, will clean clean clean

Hello,

very nice work, congratz.

Thats the nice thing on old bikes - no plastic and metal can allways been back to new :-)

You can polish Aluminium like it`s been used on carbs very easy and quickly with cheap steelwool. This costs near nothing, is available anywhere and you get results in minutes. The messingparts (messing = the golden stuff like jets, screws etc.) will blink with it as well in seconds.
Best,
Igor
