GPz Gas tank cap
17 Mar 2012 12:24
Hey what's the best way to refinish the black chrome on the gas cap? It looks OK but won't look very good on a fresh tank. Maybe a powdercoat?

Dont know what you have over there but here in ukk you can get it stripped overnight in an acid tank and then either re black chromed/stove enameled/or as you say powdercoated

The nickel/cadmium black chrome process (on a large scale) is no longer an option in the US due to the EPA...which is why pipes, grab bars, etc. are no longer available in black chrome. However, check with
www.caswellplating.com
as they sell a black chrome plating kit for small items.
