Here's the front cut and rework on my front fender. It's cut back several inches, didn't measure how many. The rear of the fender is moved up about 2 inches, didn't measure. Just a curved cut similar to stock. This is just a light coat of paint to cover the silver stripes and let me check the concept on the bike in the right color scheme. I'll prep and paint it tomorrow morning.

Thanks, Pat. I'm still deciding if I want to lower it closer to the tire. It sits pretty high this way, but really looks balanced with the rear fender. I'm sure it would look good lowered, too. I'm just getting antsy to get the bike done, and I'm not sure it's worth the trouble .

I groungd the edge to bare metal for 1/2 inch, with 40 grit sandpaper. Then I firmly pressed dyna polyester filler into it, all the way along the cut line to the original rolled edge in the sheet metal. After about 5-6 minutes, I carved the shape in with a utility knife. While it's still soft! Then waited about 15 more minutes and sanded it out with 60 grit, then 100, then 220..blah blah blah..typical prep stuff after that. The paint you see is very light, but a little more than a fog coat, because I wanted to see it without the siver racing stripe...I sanded it a little smaller (thickness-wise), and then primed and painted for the final version.

man that looks great, I love to see everyone doing these mods themselves. I know sometimes it's easier to get things done by someone else, and I don't want to step on any toes. I am a sculptor and I enjoy doing these things myself I also love to wrench it when I have time. I love the Kaw's for this reason, you can do anything with them.
