1977 KZ650-B1 Matching Red Paint

I am restoring/reviving a 1977 KZ650-B1 (Canadian Model) and the paint needs some help. I am looking for sources for the matching Red paint. Ideally in a spray can to fit my budget.

Bike Bandit's exploded views shows a 1978 (seems like the KZ650-B1 was not available in the USA in 1977) as sporting a red colour described variably as follows:

Tank: Not listed
Side Covers: Red
Rear Seat Cover: C.S.R.

Any ideas about how I can get the matching paint or maybe a car look-alike from any automotive shop. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I think a spray can match is going to be tough. If you have a piece with good paint an automotive paint store should be able to match it for you.Sometimes they can mix it and put it in a spray can for you. good luck.

This site z650 lists the '77 B1 available in Candy Super Red (C.S.R) and Candy Emerald Green.

Thanks for the input guys. So what do you think… that Kawasaki's Candy Super Red is just another name for what was called Candy Apple Red?

The last time I used it, Candy Apple Red was a three paint finish:
A very bright and reflective White undercoat (like road sign reflective White),
A translucent Candy Apple Red colour coat and,
A Clear top coat.

If anyone has the original colours in descent shape is that what it looks like?

japanese paint color varies greatly, find something close and go with it, nobody but you will ever know, dupli-color or car color has very nice paint in spray bombs a lot of it comes in base/clear type, the clearcoat works good too

The base coat is silver for the 77 650 Super Candy Red color according to the Lubri Tech charts from back then.

I submitted a scanned copy of all the L T charts to this website awhile ago but I do not see them listed.

I have it in a Word document if anyone would like to have it just ask.
