leaky tank cure! was created by steelhorseangel
hi kzr's

time to give something back to everyone
on here!

my project bike is nearly finished. i plumbed
the tank in today. it was cleaned and internally
line with a product similar to kreem.

i can get 4 impressive white sparks
from the boyer bransden ignition, lets put gas
in i said. i discovered a pin hole leak that sprayed
gas everwhere. i disconnected and drained the tank.

looking on the web i surfed and discovered
'cures for pin hole leaks in gas tanks!'

1) jb weld gets melted by the gas :(
2) apoxy two parts doesn't work :(
3) weld - cabooom!......DON'T EVER

i've found a well tested product
called 'Petro Patch', do a search on the web.
i found mine on Amazon, it's really cheap and
actually stops gas tank leaks!

Pass the word around rider's!

i've bought mine today, repairing my leak
tomorrow!

Regards

Petrol Patch looks a lot like JB Stick (made by JB Weld). Anyone know if they're essentially the same thing?

hi kzr

i spent a few hours researching a cure for
pinholes in tanks.

1) jb weld products melt eventually
2) seal all - sometimes fails.

i used the petro patch and it does what
it says on the box. what you do is this:-

wear a mask and protective gloves.
do this patching outside, not enclosed.
don't breathe in the fumes or allow to
touch the skin.
clean the area around the pin hole and degrease it.
give the sealant a shake and using long nose
pliers dip in about an inch square patch, flatten it
on the pin hole.
allow this to set for 20 mins and then cut another
patch 1.5" and again dip it in the shaken liquid.
place over the first patch and again flatten.

allow to set for 24hrs and the leak has
been repaired.

jb weld melts with time!

regards
