Need help on deciding what color to paint my MKII

Thinking about doing a re-paint and replicating one of the factory colors.

It's factory red now but the tank has a couple scrapes and the decals on the sidecovers are a bit peely and the tail deck has a couple gouges from a carrier. People say to leave it but I think I can ace the factory color. Opinions?

The bike is in such nice shape and has low miles I think it would really benefit from a re-paint. I like the blue as well since I logged a lot of miles on a blue 79 when I worked at a Kawi shop in the day.
What color should i go with taking into account mass appeal, re-sale value and general consensus.

Luminous Dark Red?
Luminous navy Blue?

Could always paint it '80 black but that would be changing it to sometthing other than stock so that's probably out.

if your not goin Green then Red. "resale red" is what we called it back in the day. if you wanted something to sell paint it red.

Staying factory I think the red is awfully sharp. The blue is a little more subdued. my .02

I like that color that's on there now.

Although I just looked at Tony's blue 1979 KZ1000 A3, MK11 and that looks pretty sharp too.

Paint it blue!! But that's just me. But if resale is important the red one you posted in the ebay auction is over 10,000 right now.

The stuff from web bike is free shipping. The set went up a bit from a year ago, may be the yen to dollar conversion. You can by anything with paypal and in most cases its on your door the next week.

Are the sides and tail repros? What is the quality of this company's stuff?

Would the tank be a an original Kawasaki part? I really am curious as to where they get the parts from.


They also show tanks made of "Carbon" what's that all about?

Some of the translation on that site is strange. They are great quality parts and fit just like stock does. Its made by the same company that does the Z1 body sets, PMC. I dont think you could do a better job matching the paint and pin stripping anywhere. I have heard that these are made with the same molds and dies Kawasaki used. The tank is steel.
