GL1000 didn't come with bags so maybe whatever was aftermarket offering such as Vetter, or whatever? I see more bikes that look like this. Take a huge fairing, ruin it by removing the plastic or cut it down 24"? Doesn't make any sense to me. Why have bags and a huge wide fairing but remove the part of it that has any function? Whatever policeman that rode that bike would be very happy to not know what became of it I would venture to say. Long distance ride they claim? Yea, no windshield and your hands 18" up in the fresh air and the saddlebags 2" off the ground. Great for cornering on those long rides. Take them curves dragging the bags at 20mph with your hands up 10" above your eyebrows. Function is not there, sorry but the bike will not work. Style if you like it is fine to sit in the garage though if it's your cup of tea, not mine, no function, zero.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I gotta agree with Ron on this one. I suspect that windshield will now direct more airblast into the rider's face than if he had just removed the whole thing. The saddlebags look like a great place to mount training wheels. I would have loved the handlebars & mirrors when I was 14 years old. What do you think that post is that sticks out behind the left side cover; is that intended to protect the saddlebags during a crash? I will say this, it looks like the bike was professionally painted. Ed
