Will a KZ 1000 tank fit on an LTD chassis? was created by grubdog
I want to buy an extra tank, and I was thinking of getting a KZ 1000 tank for my LTD. First, the bike is put together from parts, so it doesn't matter what identity it assumes. Second, I kind of like the look of a KZ tank; it appears to be larger than the LTD. The tank that I am looking at is from a 77, my frame is a 79 (I think).

To expand on what Roy said, the two years tanks that will drop onto your frame are the 1977 and 1978 KZ1000A (standard) models. Be advised that when acquiring the petcock, the 1977 tank is a screw-on petcock, while the 1978 tank requires a bolt-on petcock.

Sounds great! Plus, I have a screw on petcock; Pingle no less. Thanks for the clarification.

Depending on your carbs you may need the Pingel offset adaptor for the 78 tank. Ive found that any 73-80 tank will interchange on any frame. There is no LTD specific frame, as far as tank fit goes until you get into the shaft drive ones which Im not sure of
