Will a 900/1000 Tank Fit a 650, Anyone?

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried to put a KZ900/1000 tank onto a KZ650? No doubt there there would be some necessary mods to mount the tank and I imagine it would have no problem fitting over the backbone of the frame. What I'm not sure of, is will it clear the forks when they turn from side to side? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
