Wow the paint looks good! I royally screwed my clearcoat the first time through, so don't feel bad about fixing a little boo boo. I used what is called "fine line" tape to mask the edge of the stripes. It's available at your paint supply shop. BTW don't worry about me knocking you off. You would be pretty far down my list after the week I have had at work.

Thanks Josh... Very happy with it. I think all said and done it should come out pretty nice once I fix the couple small issue. Can't want to get the rest of it painted. This was my trial paint job before I do the 1000 which will be exponentially more complicated!

oooh, very nice!

I've been thinking about getting rid of the 'purple nurple' or 'grape ape' that came with my bike. I'm thinking black, but will be using the rattle can technique. Hopefully I can get it close to the quality of paint job shown here.

Cheers!

Had an "o shit" moment yesturday and im totally pissed about it!

In my haste to get the 900 back together to ride this weekend, I prep the tail and left cover for its final coat of clear yesturday, mix it up, get setup, lay down a perfect smooth layer of clear and it hits me... I forgot to tack it before I sprayed it! Damn it man!

These two pieces were perfect to.... I saw a couple of dust bunnies in, so we will see what it looks like this morning.

Worst case, a little more sanding and respray it, but damn does that piss you off or what!!

Well it didn't turn out to be as bad as I thought it might be, but I had to do a little clean up here and there. It's not as perfect as I would like it, but pretty happy with the results. I painted this bike as a warm up for the 1000 build paint and I learned a lot about what works well and what doesn't with my current setup and ability. So if nothing else, it should make the "more complex" 1000 paint job that much better.

Here are some shots of the finished product...

This ones for OMR! :)
