Polishing Clear Coat was created by gaillarry
Just did the tank and side panels from my 83 KZ750, gloss black. Used a new product for the clear coat " SprayMax " spray can $21. It has an injector on the bottom of the can to put the hardener into the clear coat. Once injected the can has to be used within 24 hrs. Good thing about SprayMax the clear coat is gas resistant.

Came out real nice but need to smooth it all out. Whats the best way to buff or polish the clear coat?

Thanks for the input, I happen to have some Nu Finish Scratch Remover and lots of 2000 wet/dry sandpaper.

I do a lot of painting, when it comes to clear I use a little dish soap in the water I use for wet sanding. It helps the sand paper move a little easier without dragging. You will likely have a lot of orangepeelso you may want to start with 1000 grit and then a good "first cut" compound if not you will have popeye arms using only a light scratch remover.

I use 1200 with soap and water first. for the runs , I use a shaver( you can buy them at any automotive paint store. It's a file mounted on a 0ne inch block of wood.) Then I used 1500 and a rubber squeegie to see the results. Then I buff with 3m - B) perfectitII
