Powdercoating!!!

Well I finally broke down and bought a powdercoating kit, wired a 220 outlet in my garage and got an oven. My first trial run was on a kz1000 ignition cover. I think it turned out great. I will powdercoat just about anything that will fit in a household oven. There are alot of colors to choose from, even chrome's, and translucents. I have been doing alot of mirror black which is what the kawasaki cover in the picture is done in.

Hey mark, the bike is coming along great. Still a lot to do and college is still making funding a problem but overall its still in progress. I should get around to posting some progress pics asap.

Looking forward to seeing the pics.
good luck in collage. keep that as #1 priority, ull have lots of time for kz's bud.

That's what everyone keeps tellin me. Its hard to sit in the garage when the garage is full of projects. I've been keepin good grades though and hope to be done in a year.

Awesome plan Jordan! I've been planning to get a system together, I got my oven @ 6 months ago, still need to buy a compressor, powder gun, & IR temp gun. I'm waitng to get a decent compressor for bead/sand blasting.

Are you outgassing your aluminum before powdering it? The old Japanese bike aluminum castings are very good quality and take powder very well from all I've read.

They powder thats available now is really cool... shooting candy colors over silver, chrome, or polished alum. looks wicked!!

The texured powders, wrinkle, vein, ect. are very coater friendly from what I've read and they look really good also.
