Greetings All,

I'm new to the forum, just bought a one-owner 75 Z1 complete with original paperwork and manuals. In addition, it's had several upgrades (ss brake lines, second disc brake, 4:1 pipes etc).

To the point of my question however, I am looking to build the bike in the direction of an endurance racer and was looking to get a bigger fuel tank.

Does anyone know any tanks that will fit the Z1 frame without me having to mod the frame too seriously? I'd like to keep the stock seat, and while I like the fiberglass rickman tank from airtech, I'm not sure I want to go fiberglass. I'd like to maybe go for a boxy kz1000 tank. Anyone have any suggestions?

You bought a 1-owner Z1 and you're going to do what?????? Good grief!!!!!!!!! Oh, I get it, you're putting us on. Very funny. I just bought an original 1957 fuel injected Corvette from the original owner and I plan to make a dune buggy out of it. Any suggestions? ;)

I think you should post a picture of the bike before i say anything.

While the bike is a one owner with paperwork, the tank, motor, and bodywork have all been modified to some extent so I don't feel bad not doing a ground up resto. I would, however like to keep everything as reversible as possible.

Regarding pictures, I won't have any until I get back home in three weeks.

Without knowing with 100% certainty, I expect the larger of the two Z1-R fuel tanks should fit easily. It takes 24 litres, or 6.3 USgal.

The KZ1000 tanks are no larger than the Z1 except maybe a few oz on the ST tank. The 1980 Z1R I don't know, but the 78 is only 13 liters, the 1980 was larger, but not that much. I would doubt highly it's larger capacity than a Z1 tank.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

In Europe, at least, you had the option of either a 12 or a 24 litre tank.
